Last Tuesday I played my first round game in this year’s Horsham Chess Club Quickplay Knockout competition. I was up against Andrew Reid and managed to win our two game match as might be expected, given our relative grading.
The first game was a pretty routine win, as Black failed to prevent White making a standard breakthrough. The second was a little more eventful as the advantage shifted back and forth, but in the end my opponent blundered a piece, then walking into a mate.
I give the games below with some brief notes.
