Sussex were up against Lincolnshire in the final of the Minor Counties competition last Saturday. We managed to win an exciting match on board count.
I was playing Black on board ten against Alex Royle. Following a solid opening, I slipped up a couple of times. The first time, my opponent failed to exploit my error, but the second time he found the best response; another error on my next move soon sealed my fate. I resigned in a position where my opponent was about to win further material, while I couldn’t see anything more to try.
I give the game below with some notes.
