County Match (Open) 2014-15: Sussex – Kent

Prior to this season, I had not played Jerry Anstead for many years. Now, in the space of a few months, I have played him twice, both in county matches! Our most recent encounter was in the county match between Sussex and Kent on the 7th March, which unfortunately was lost by Sussex. However, I did have the consolation of winning an interesting game against Mr Anstead.

The game soon transposed into a less common form of the Dutch. I prepared and made a sharp break in the centre, against which my opponent failed to respond vigerously enough. Although I committed a couple of inaccuracies, I was none the less able to maintain strong pressure and guided play into a winning endgame.

I give the game below with some notes.
