Horsham Club Championship 2023-24: Mansson – Higgs

Last night I played my fourth round game in the Club Championship, this year organised as a Swiss Tournament involving all interested club members. I was paired against Anthony Higgs, with whom I was tied on 3/3 before the game.

I had the White pieces and the game started with the Old Indian Defence. Following an injudicious central break by my opponent, I was able to establish a clear positional advantage; however, I failed to take exploit this fully and allowed my opponent back into the game. With both of us short of time, we exchange errors, before agreeing to a draw when a repetition of the position seemed inevitable.

I give the game below with some notes.
