County Match (Open) 2013-14: Sussex – Kent

Sussex were soundly beaten 10-6 by Kent in last weekend’s match at the Mick Jagger Center, Dartford. Kent’s grading advantage told in the top half of the team, where they outscored Sussex 6.5-1.5.

My game against David Shire has some moments of interest, but the assessment of the position failed to slip outside a slight advantage to one side or the other, and we agreed a draw just before the time control. At that point, my opponent seemed to have slightly the better of the endgame, so I was happy to split the point.

I give the game below with some notes.
