Last night, Horsham 1 continues their successful start to the season with a 3.5-0.5 wins over Eastbourne 2. My game saw me defeat Laurence Butt with the Black pieces.
The game started with my opponent adopting an ineffectual version of the Stonewall formation. I managed to establish a dominating position, although at one point I did miss a hidden opportunity to trap one of my opponent’s bishop. A rash kingside break only served to make my position even better. Although my opponent’s later attempt to break out led to his quick demise, his position by that point was in any case clearly lost.
