I started the Quickplay Knockout for 2019-20 with a 2-0 win against Richard Slade in round one. The first game saw me succeed with an aggressive approach for a promising position. The second game was closer, as the position was balanced before my opponent’s final move; he lost on time when making it, but it was in any case a mistaken piece sacrifice that should not have worked. I therefore move on to round three, as I have a bye in round two.
