Sussex League (Division 1) 2025-26: Horsham 1 – Brighton 1

Horsham 1 drew their latest match in Division 1 of the Sussex League against Brighton 1. They were at home and managed to draw in the end, after first going ahead 1-0 (due to my game), then falling 2-1 behind (due to losses on the top two boards), and finally drawing level 2-2 (due to Anthony Higgs outwitting Paul Batchelor on bottom board).

I was Black against Mikolaj Rogacewicz on board three. I caught him in a prepared line and he fell into a trap, allowing me to sacrifice my queen and a rook for four minor pieces; in the resulting position, due to White’s weak pawns and exposed king, I was able to achieve victory with some accurate play.

I give the game below with some notes.
