Horsham Club Championship 2025-26: Mansson – McDonald

This post features my first attempt at creating a video of my analysis of one of my games. I intend to do this for at least some of my encounters going forward. The videos will be published on my YouTube channel; please subscribe to it, and also like videos and comment on them.

In this game, I was up against Rob McDonald in the Horsham Club Championship. I had the White pieces and play started with an unusual sub-variation of the Sicilian Defence. My opening play was not entirely accurate, but my opponent failed to exploit it. In the resulting complicated middle game, he then went wrong as he failed to respond to my aggressive central thrust in the best way. I therefore gained a large advantage which I eventually converted to a win, although not without some mutual oversights on the way.
