County Match (Open) 2025-26: Kent – Sussex

In this game I was up against Alan Hanreck in a recent county match against Kent.

I was on board four and had the black pieces.

My opponent aimed for a quiet opening, but I surprised him with a pawn sacrifice I had prepared earlier. To his credit, he managed to negotiate the complications to a tenable position, and the game ended fairly soon afterwards in a repetition of moves.

I give the game below with some notes.
