Horsham Club Championship 2011-12: Mansson – Cannon

Last night I won again in the club championship, this time against John Cannon. John has had a rough time recently, with a nasty fall injuring his hand, and so was not in the best of shape for the game.

After I achieved a solid advantage out of the opening, John unwisely decided to open the position up. He was soon under a great deal of pressure, and after a couple more mistakes, found himself in a hopeless situation, and decided to resign at once.

I give the game below with some brief notes based on my initial conclusions. The alternative defence 25…Rfd8 struck me as the best try during the game. Having analysed it briefly, I am not sure whether White can win or Black can hold.
