Mid-Sussex League Division 1 2022-23: Horsham 1 – Brighton 1

Last night Horsham’s first team played Brighton’s first team at their new temporary venue. The match was close but ultimately disappointing from a Horsham perspective, as we lost 1.5-2.5.

My game was the only decisive result in the match. I achieved a promising endgame out of the opening, and when my opponent slipped up in a tricky position, I was a pawn ahead with good winning chances. However, earlier in the game, I had used up too much time on several of my moves, and had drifted into serious time trouble. As a result, I managed first to throw away the win, then lose on time half a dozen moves later while playing a probably losing move.

I give the game below with some notes.
