County Match (Open) 2025-26: Sussex – Cambridgeshire

A couple of Saturdays ago, Sussex took on Cambridgeshire in the quarter-finals of the Minor Counties. In a match played at a neutral venue in Wanstead, Cambridgeshire won comfotably by 9.5 to 6.5. I did manage to win my own game, but this was ultimately in vain.

I was on board seven. I had the Black pieces and was up against Alexander Linton. My opponent fell into a neat trap just out of the opening and lost a piece. He struggled on for a while, but Black kept control of the game and consolidated to victory.

I give the game below with some notes.
