Sussex League (Division 1) 2025-26: Horsham 1 – East Grinstead 1

Last Tuesday, Horsham 1 faced East Grinstead 1 at home in their final match of the Mid-Sussex League season. The fixture ended in a 2-2 draw after decisive results on all boards.

I was on board three. I had the Black pieces and was up against Peter Kemp. The game developed very much in my favour, but I failed to take several good chances to establish a big advantage. Finally, my opponent blundered a pawn with both of us short of time. Unfortunately, I soon played a flawed combination, which only gave me and equal rather than winning position. I then went wrong and after errors on both sides, finally had to concede defeat.

I give the game below with some notes.
