4NCL Division 2 2012-13: e2e4.org.uk 2 – Poisoned Pawns

Last weekend saw rounds 5 and 6 of the 4NCL season played at Staverton Park for Divisions 1 and 2. I was in the second team this weekend. On a personal note I achieved a decent result with two draws against strong opposition, but unfortunately the team lost both matches.

On the Saturday, we were up against Poisoned Pawns. Robert Willmoth achieved a good win against Andrew Harley on board one, but the rest of the results disappointed, with four draws and three losses on the other boards.

My game against Paul Byway with White was rather dull. He equalised easily enough against my Catalan, but fortunately didn’t then play vigorously enough when given the chance, and the game soon ended in a draw. At least this gave me the chance to watch England beat France in the Six Nations!

I give the game below with some brief notes.
