A couple of weekends ago, Sussex played Middlesex again this season, this time at home. Unfortunately, things turned out much as before. They were heavily outgraded and went down to defeated by a big margin.
I was on board five and had the White pieces. My opponent was Harry Bryant, a strong junior player.
The opening was a Najdorf Sicilian, and the players reached a balanced position out of the opening. Then I started to go wrong and ended up in a losing position. I then punted a speculative attempt, but my opponent saw through it and calculated his way to victory. I resigned when he was about to queen a pawn.
I give the game below with some notes.
