County Match (Open) 2025-26: Sussex – Surrey

A week and a half ago I played for Sussex in a county match against Surrey in Hassocks. Unfortunately, Sussex lost the match decisively, although I managed a decent result.

I was Black against Susan Lalic on board seven. I managed to obtain a decent position out of the opening, but went wrong in the middlegame. Fortunately, my opponent did not make the most of her chances, and I was able to escape to a drawn endgame.

I give the game below with some notes.

Great game analysis! The Scotch Four Knights is always solid. I recently built a free analysis tool at plychess.com using Stockfish if you ever need a quick browser-based option.
