Horsham Club Knockout 2014-15: Mansson – Moorhouse

Last Tuesday saw me play my latest game in the Horsham club knockout. Although it was my second game this year in the competition, technically it was the third round, as I, along with most of the entrants, had a bye in round two.

I was paired against Richard Moorhouse and drew the White pieces. I gained a nagging advantage out of the opening, but my opponent’s position was still solid. However, he decided to play an aggressive thrust with his g-pawn that backfired, allowing me to build up great pressure on the kingside. After he blundered, allowing me to win a piece for two pawns, I was soon able to press home my advantage with some accurate calculation and win.

I give the game below with some notes.
