Horsham played Sussex University a couple of Tuesdays ago in the McArthur Cup semi-final. It was a closely-contested match which Horsham won 4-2 in the end, with two wins and four draws. Most of the games were long and closely contested; the exception was my game, which I managed to win fairly quickly without a great deal of trouble.
I was on board three. I had the White pieces and was up against Albert Eldridge. My opponent neglected his development, which I exploited by breaking open the centre. I soon won the exchange, while depriving the opposing king of the right to castle. My opponent struggled on for a bit, but soon had to admit his position was hopeless and resigned.
I give the game below with some notes.
